Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. It was an innate trait for a girl who was of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in the beginning by gifted relatives and parents. Maureen was welcomed into the sanctity of family on August 17, 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and was a gruelling athlete in games when she was young. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude for performing. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. In the age of 14she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
